Leave Pittwater alone please. I object to any and all reasoning on heritage, cultural and environmental grounds.

Lets keep planning powers local so we can protect this unique environment.

If you continue on this, the NB will lose its essence, its culture, peace and beauty. We don’t want to turn into another Dee Why. It won’t handle the extra load and what about the infrastructure stress (septic, elec grid, parking, roads, transport, rubbish, schools, traffic) and further ‘chaos’ it will bring into the beaches?

Bring back Pittwater Council! Return the electoral division to the complete A Riding boundaries!

Removing planning powers from individual Sydney council areas will be be the death nell for heritage protection, canopy cover and bio diversity in the Sydney basin. A once worldwide recognised liveable city will be changed forever by Labor’s shortsighted plans to deregulate community led planning decisions.

937 people in the northern beaches district alone wrote individual letters to council reporting their opposition over hearing that conservation zones will be lost. Climate change and all its problems such as fire, flood, wind and drought will create major problems to further development in this area. Please reverse this ridiculous rezoning to residential.

Since the undemocratic, forced amalgamation with Manly and Warringah to form NBC in 2016, Pittwater's elected representatives have been outnumbered and marginalised. Pittwater residents no longer have a voice. Decisions are taken in 'developer friendly' and distant Dee Why where there is little or no understanding (and certainly no appreciation) of the differences between Pittwater and our southern neighbours. Differences in: topography and geography; slip, fire and flood hazards; limited existing infrastructure (and environmental, logistical and cost limitations on future infrastructure); area dedicated to green space, canopy and fauna habitat; and community attitudes, wishes and priorities. Pittwater's needs and wants now fall on deaf ears. Since 2016, non-compliant development, over-development, traffic, pollution, parking snarls have all increased ...... against the wishes of the vast majority of Pittwater residents. Yet, NBC is planning to "harmonise" LEPs/DLPs across the beaches. That means Pittwater would no longer have a seperate suite of laws and regulations designed to protect our unique environment from overdevelopment and all the nasties that come with it. Our 'conservation zonings' will be slashed. Our treasured fauna habitats, canopies and green spaces will be further sacrificed in favour of more and bigger dwellings, and ever increasing traffic, noise and pollution. If you care, please join with the community in stopping NBC's proposed rezoning of Pittwater and please help 'Protect Pittwater Inc' ([email protected]) bring back Pittwater Council. The new State Government has promised plebiscites in those former NSW council areas undemocratically forced into unhappy mergers. This is probably a once in a life-time opportunity to restore 'local' council, ensure the 'local' community is heard and to save Pittwater.

All this is happening on our watch and if we don't all join in the fight together nothing will be saved. I urge residents to [email protected] and help get our own Pittwater Council it's the only solution left.

Fully support petition to protect Pittwater's unique character

Can somebody explain why properties around Refuge Cove and Saltpan are allowed to impinge on the Crown Land "Open Space Reservation" with landscaping, planting, lawns and decking? Some of it going right down to the water - effectively enlarging their property to the detriment of the public.

Pittwater is a different place to Manly-Warringah in its geography, geology, canopy cover and biodiversity, and needs protection from the typical Manly/Dee Why suburban development.

How can we still sacrifice Conservation Zones when we know so well how badly damaged the environment and the climate are? Protect Pittwater and its beautiful natural environment.

Born on the Northern Beaches, grew up in Paradise, a childhood immersed in nature as Koalas brought their babies down to our deck to see what tasty gum leaves we might have - it's devastating that this population is now extinct, in just one lifetime. The desecration of development and increased housing density simply must stop as we are losing more of our treasured flora and fauna.
