High Noon for Pioneertown's Future: Tell San Bernardino County to Adopt the Pioneertown Mane Street Historic Overlay

As a resident of Pioneertown, I beg of you to adopt the Pioneertown Mane St Historical Overlay.

Please adopt the community overlay promoted by people of Pioneertown whith the help of San Bernadino County. We have protected this unique area for 75 years, let's not ruin it now.

Let’s as a society not bend to corporate takeovers even as they seem convenient at the time . Historic buildings and America’s Main streets are too often mowed down for the likes of all in one big box monstrosities like Walmarts . Regional character will be tragically be wiped away because we wanted better parking.

Protect and preserve Pioneertown!

Please adopt the overlay presented by the Community. We have protected our community for 75 years & dont wish to have it destroyed now.

Pioneertown is NOT a commercial zone, it’s a rural living neighborhood with sone small shops and resources that should mainly serve the community that lives there

It’s highly disappointing that after participating in the 2016 Community Planning Process which was effectively trashed when SB County never honored the original intent of translating the community plans into actual land use code, the county chose to instead put all of the work back on residents by rebranding the community planning process into the “Community Action Guide.” Well now, SB County is effectively even trashing that publication, suggesting re-zoning Pioneertown and paying no mind to the Community Planning process, Community Action Guide, or the well thought out special use overlay that’s being proposed here. Why did the county spend all of that taxpayer money hiring consulting firm Michael Baker International to work on the community planning process, get residents to contribute substantial input, not honor it, only to effectively trash that initiative to push generic zoning at us 7 years later.

It is critical that the county take the community’s feedback into consideration when zoning the Main Street area. Generic commercial zoning would threaten the unique character of our town and destroy everything that draws visitors from around the world.
