Keep Pine Hill Skate Park Open (Dunlap Family Skate Park)
On February 6, 2012 the Washington Township board of supervisors voted unanimously to close the Dunlap Family Skate Park (Pine Hill - Waynesboro, PA) until March 15, 2012 due to concerns of vandalism. A group of parents and skateboarders went to the Township Supervisors meeting on February 13, 2012 and were told that the main reason was not vandalism, but concerns that the park was being damaged from skating on it in cold weather. A campaign was then launched to prove this statement false. We have received confirmation from Spohn Ranch Skateparks who built the park that there is no concern over cold weather skateboarding. The supervisors were also concerned that shovels and ice removal products were being used - they have been repeatedly reassured that this is not the case. We have given them the information provided to us by Spohn Ranch and we have asked them to reconsider their decision. They have asked us to create a "responsible adults group" to accept responsibility of the park during winter months. We do not feel that his necessary or fair, as the skateboarding community is being asked to follow rules and standards not imposed to other groups in our community. Please support skateboarding by signing this petition. Thank you for your support!
