Pimlico Mums say no to new bridge from St George's Square

My children grew up on the square along with their friends, making life long friendships. This is where I met mums like me who provided support, live and friendship. We crated our community because we had a place to BE. Save the square! People and children of Pimlico and beyond need a place to BE TOGETHER!

This square is an idyll in a bustling city where children can learn to ride bikes, play with their friends and have room to explore independently of adults. St. George's Square is a haven for young and old, alike. If you want a cycling bridge, annex a cycling path on Vauxhall bridge - just as effective and far less expense (you might even use the savings to fund support staff at the schools)

As a regular driver in London I feel a bridge is not needed here, there are plenty of crossings serving this area. Take your bridge further east!

There is already enough disruption with the cycle superhighway being implemented and this is not what the Pimlico community needs. We use St George's square as our local green space to relax and my daughter's school also goes there to play as their only accessible outdoor area.

St George's Square is a unique and tranquil open space for families, residents and visitors in what is a residential part of London. It really does have a sense of community and turning it into a thoroughfare will have a devastating impact on the local community. Vauxhall Bridge is a mere 300m away, Chelsea Bridge 900m, and the new Cycle superhighway is being built.

It seems a real shame to make St George's Square into a thoroughfare. It is one of very few open spaces for families in Pimlico and the gardens are really important in maintaining a sense of community in our neighbourhood. It is also one of the few places where one can peacefully look at the river which has so much to offer children particularly. This bridge is not necessary and will spoil something which is very special.

As St George's Square is subsiding, I am concerned the building of such a bridge will affect the unstable foundations even more. We do not need this bridge. It is Wandsworth Council who have promised this to the American Embassy, nothing to do with Westminster Council or its residents.

Please keep the Gardens as a haven of tranquility as they are a so important as they are. Children and residents use and value the Gardens regularly and they are such an asset to the area. Please relocate the bridge .

Pease keep this and create more public gardens in Pimlico - Victoria areas. It is the only public access garden for babies and children to play in safely locally. This garden is also used by local schools and nurseries.

The bridge is not a bad idea, just the position. Can it not be landed further down towards Chelsea and save the tranquility of our special child friendly public square? Tnx.

I visit St.Georges square when I visit London. My granddaughters and their friends visit the square most days it is the only green area that is safe for them to run around, at ball games, or just enjoy a picnic.
It would be a crime to destroy their utopia.
