Our Message to Pierce College:

For 25 years, the weekend adult badminton program at Pierce College has been more than just a place to play—it has been a home for our community.

We are members of this program who come from across Los Angeles, some traveling over 30 miles, to be part of something special. This program has brought together people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. We have made lifelong friendships here. We have learned from each other, improved our skills through coaching and practice, and built a community centered around mutual respect, health, and the love of badminton.

Many of us have been coming here for years—some for over a decade. This gym has been where we celebrate birthdays, support each other through difficult times, and share in the simple joy of staying active together. For some of us, this is our primary form of exercise and social connection. For others, it's where we've learned discipline, sportsmanship, and the value of community.

We understand that Pierce College has administrative considerations to address, and we want to be clear: we are eager to work with the college to meet any and all requirements. Whether that means establishing formal registration systems, creating official rosters, adjusting payment procedures, or any other changes needed to comply with District policies—we are ready and willing to make it happen.

We are not asking the college to compromise its standards. We are asking for the opportunity to continue this program in a way that works for everyone.

Pierce College has been an incredible partner to our community for 25 years, and we are deeply grateful for that. We hope to continue this partnership for many more years to come.

I believe this program provides meaningful community benefit and I hope Pierce College will consider allowing it to continue with any necessary adjustments to meet administrative requirements.
