Pickleball has become the fastest growing sport in the United States (NBC News March 19, 2014).

While not restricted to any particular age group, it has found an especially large following among seniors, a traditionally underserved segment of the population when it comes to athletic activities.

Many surrounding towns (Fairfield, Milford, Stratford, Westport, New Canaan, Greenwich etc) have responded to the needs of their residents. Trumbull does not currently have any facilities in place.

This petition respectfully requests that the Trumbull Recreation Committee recognize the needs and desires of Trumbull residents and provide access to quality pickleball facilities, both indoor and outdoor.

It is suggested that this may include, but not limited to, modification (i.e. lining) of existing tennis courts, conversion of existing courts to pickleball, construction of dedicated courts and scheduled access to appropriate indoor town facilities.
