I believe the MOHLTC has been planning these changes for some time.
Alienating doctors and not having a PSA is part of the strategy to have complete control of the Health Care Agenda. I only wish our fellow physicians would wake up and see what is going on and refuse to participate.

If the government implements changes to the PEMs that we do not want and haven't had a hand in developing, then that is not fair process, and should either a) lead to further litigation (breach of contract) or b) job action. To continue to work with implemented changes that we don't have a part in is to be complicit and accepting of the changes. Any family physician who continues to work with the changes is, by default, supporting the government.
Since these changes have already been implemented (piloted), the time for action is now! Clay Hammett

The continued fee cuts/deletions without any consultation, lack of respect for physicians and refusal to engage in any meaningful negotiation by the province makes practicing as a physician in Ontario precarious and unattractive.

History repeats itself no matter how much you deny it. Doctors will leave this province. It is a sad state when doctors actively discourage others into entering this field, or encourage them to go to another province or to the states..again.

The OMA and the OCFP should refuse to engage in any contact with the MOHLTC or its subsidiaries including the LHINS, HQO, etc in ANY form or format until there is an email from Premier Wynne or Minister Hoskins guaranteeing binding arbitration as is the right of all other people without the legal right to strike.

The LHINs are the operating arm of the Ministry of Health. The Ministry cannot butcher Family Physicians, and expect us to also participate in the butchering process.

Wholeheartedly agree. The govrnment has unfairly treated physicians as a group knowing full well that we are extremely limited in what we can do to respond to their heavy handed techniques and misrepresentation of the truth. A healthy relationship requires mutual respect which the government does not have for our profession.

I agree wholeheartedly. The government is misrepresenting the facts and using their position of power to act as bullies against a group who are forbidden by their regulator to take job action, and who have no statutory right to any sort of fair arbitration process. And we know why the government does not want to give us this right! ...

While I agree that reform is badly needed in the Ontario / Canadian healthcare system, such reform cannot take place when trust between the Ontario government and physicians is so badly damaged. As a young family physician I ask the OMA and OCFP to refuse to engage in primary care reform until the government agrees to return to negotions with a binding arbitration dispute mechanism. We need our physician leaders to stand up for the profession in this time of uncertainty, so that we can be sure that reform measures are sustainable and provide high quality care for our aging population and are not simply short-sighted cost cutting measures.

This situation is untenable. If our profession is attacked as it has been, the College binds us against job action unfairly as it has, and the oma fails to organize physicians as it should, I'm afraid I'll just have to back out of the profession entirely.
