Over the past 9 years the corporate structure has destroyed all sense of collective brotherhood in our beloved fraternity.   The Board of Trustees has abused their power absolutely to our membership rights as brothers in determining the operations of the organization, to the point which they do not allow chapters to operate autonomously, as required by law.  The following egregious actions justify an immediate action to remove them for office an reestablish the rights of membership governance over administration and selection of Directors, as well as voting on all proposals, amendments, and resolutions.

1)  Forcing the acceptance of the corporate structure in 2007 by force, when the Assembly of Ambassadors was dissolved in 2004.

2) Amending National Bylaws to allow for a self-perpetuating board in which they appoint each other without the authority of the membership.  In which, the farce of having bogus elections for candidates in which they already selected.  Furthermore, destroying any check and balances of the trustees of the organization.  The Board of Directors are know governing via an authoritarian model contrary to our fraternal values and beliefs of equality.

3) The abuse of power by imposing a chapter agreement without reviewing or accepting any of the proposed amendments to respect the right of autonomy of a chapter at a college or University campus.

4) Allowing alumni brothers with questionable character to hold office on the board, which have embarrassed the organization in public and broke ethical laws within a University campus.  Conducting unethical and illegal for profit businesses, such porn sites.

5) Suspending members without due process.  Outstanding brothers who have continuously contributed to the fraternity.

The current oppressive environment will only eventually lead to a character-less organization, which promotes unethical, authoritarian, and elitist values which is contrary to the objectives and principles of the fraternity.  

This action for the membership to take receivership of the BOT is the lesser of all evils.  The membership can elect 3 temporary trustees that will serve as legal stewards, until a single camera system can be established.  Thereafter, each region can elect a Board of Trustee for the National Organization, that trustee will be responsible and advocate for that Province.  Other Trustees at large can be voted in, but no more than 33%.  We can establish Landmarks, or governance rules that can never be changed, to ensure that things like this will never happen again.  fOther fraternities like TEP, most recently in NY, challenged their Board of Trustees for the same issues.   By the fraternity removing these 13 board members with legal authority of the Fraternity and instituting an Assembly body which will better represent the position of the membership, is better than for members to take matters in their own hand by:

1) Brothers splintering into their own fraternities and challenging FIA in public

2) Continued negative discussions with non-brothers of the ineffectiveness of brotherhood by disgruntle brothers, which leads to self perpetuating destruction of our brand and ability to recruit.

3) The continued apathy of alumni and in-activeness due to lack of transparency, abuse of power and baseless branding.

It is evident that the corporate structure has failed and has diminished the process of building civically engaged and socially conscious brothers, and only created a self-serving culture of apathetic Hispanics which undermined our values of always together.
