Bless Up Rattler Nation, The Psychology Department at Florida A&M University [FAMU] is like no other in the world. On the highest of seven hills, students become immersed in the the scientific study of the human mind and its functions - from a Black perspective. For those of us who have matriculated through the Psychology Department at FAMU with Bachelor's or Master's Degrees, we often yearned for a deeper, more salient dive into our psyche, from our perspective, our utamawazo and utamaroho. We innerstood that the prevention and treatment of our issues must be approached from our cultural construct. Yes, we are different. FAMU houses the only Department of Psychology that centers around People of African descent. This petition serves as our first effort as a collective to solicit and urge FAMU to include a comprehensive PhD program within the Department of Psychology. If you agree, sign below.
