The undersigned would like to inform your company that we will refuse to Produce your projects as long as your company refuses to participate in PHBP. If the crew we're surrounded with have Healthcare benefits, the Production teams you entrust to see your projects through from beginning to end will too. Period.

The costs of this plan are completely covered in the P&W line which you tell the agency or client are necessary in order to shoot their campaign. Any attempt to argue against this is complete rubbish. You know this as well as we do. This is industry standard. This is moral. This is fair. This is not an avenue to boost profits from.

You will need to make a choice. You can utilize those P&W funds as intended to cover the healthcare of the production team that currently works long hours with no overtime or holiday pay to create your product. Or you can have a devil of a time finding experienced production teams who hold the keys to the castle.

Note, there will be no bargains of continuing to keep rates artificially low, working free days involuntarily or other such attempts to link participation in PHBP to any kind of benefit other than having an experienced production team working on your project. There is no room to give on this matter.

IN SOLIDARITY,

Updates

January 31, 2018

Production companies are beginning to realize that the lack of PHBP compliance is creating a significant staffing bottleneck for their upcoming projects. I am currently drafting a formal letter to key agency heads to outline why this shift is an industry requirement rather than a negotiable line item.

As a crew person, I stand with the producers, production managers, UPMs that make it ALL happen. Do the right thing.

PHBP should be madatory for all production companies whether they are AICP or not!

It saddens me that things have come to this. The AICP spent 11 years trying to get insurance to production teams. When they stopped enforcing this and companies stopped honoring it it spit in the face of every person that worked so hard to get this done as well as every single production team that has worked 20 hour days for your company to make you money. If companies continue to not pay into PHBP we cannot and will not continue to help you make money.

They Should never take anyone health care away. For all the hours the production team does and not get OT is just evil to take it away. Charger the clients for it or the CEOs should take a smaller cut. Just my 2 cents.
