Phase Out iPads in the Parsippany Troy-Hills School District

chromebook is trash everyone loves the ipads

As a senior in high school and having my iPad for all four years, it has been incredibly beneficial and easy to communicate with my teachers and peers. The IPADs make working on homework assignments in and out of the classroom easy.

ipads are inferior compared to the chrome books, functionality is extremely limited on chrome books, and learning how to use them after having ipads for two years will severely affect our way of learning.

I agree with these statements. I'd like to add the following. Using the iPad and notability allows for easy note talking because of its features: imports of documents and pictures, copy/pasting, inserting of graph paper (stickies), and having an organized area to put out notes. Zooming,typing, and writing is easy to do on notability but is difficult to do so on kami. I use notability almost everyday to do history readings bc it allows me to highlight and annotate. I also use it to complete mah worksheets(handwrite on iPad). Notes for most of my classes are on notability and since the iPad is light, it is easy to take the iPad wherever I go instead of a heavy, bulky chromebook. If we had chromebooks I would handwrite most of my notes (that can't be typed bc of diagrams and symbols) because it is difficult to use kami/touchscreen on the chromebook. This is the opposite of the purpose of using technology in school. It is supposed to aid us in academics and make it easier to organize work , research, and take notes. The chromebook and kami will do the opposite. Chromebooks only cause problems. There is little to none positive aspects. The keyboards are small and uncomfortable, they're heavier, touchscreen on it is not efficient, and much more. Also many people have chargers for iPads due to the many iPhone users in the school. This allows students to be able to have their devices charged more easily and covieniently. Most people do not have chromebook chargers on hand as much. Not only do I use my iPad for notability but other apps such as document scanners and homework help apps.

Kami is so slow and the chrome books are impractical in comparison to an IPad

It is scientifically proven that people remember things better if we write our notes (like on notability) instead of typing them. I know for sure from watching freshmen in my choir class that writing on kami is hard and slow especially on chrome books

Keep the i pads because they are better and stop blocking everything

We should not be forced to switch to chrome books for one or two more years when we are already used to iPads. It will just make school even more difficult for us.

We have had IPads for two years now, it is foolish for them to be taken away after using them for so long.

The iPads are very useful when taking notes in class. Notebility is very easy to use and simple to understand. Us sophomores and juniors will not be able to change over to the chrome books so suddenly after using the iPads for so long. I understand the school wants to save money by having chrome books instead of iPads (chrome books are much cheaper compared to iPads) but it makes much more sense to allow the sophomores and juniors to keep their iPads until they graduate.

We need iPads it is essential

Everything explaining the reason behind this petition was so well thought out and truly helped focus our vision on why we should continue using our iPads until graduation. Please consider this petition and show the sophomore and junior students that their voices can actually be heard by listening to us and phasing out iPads instead of immediately switching them out with chromebooks!

These iPads will be a detriment to our education as their apps allow us to store our notes digitally and are much more reliable than the alternative Kami. It is much easier to phase out the iPads rather than completely eradicate them, as there are 2 years of the iPad Era remaining.

I think switching to chrome books is just pointless
