Pharmaceutical drug companies are recruiting homeless for drug testing. When drug trials were controled by the government there were guidelines that emphasized the importance of not using coercion to enlist volunteers. By compensating vulnerable and desperate people it created a serious health risk for the volunteer and well, it is simply unethical. Once drug trials became a private sector pharmecutcal companies ignored moral standards; they decided to take advantage of the less fortunates' desperation, and convinced them to put their health on the line so they can make a quick buck. One may ask why this is inmoral, the homeless is volunteering for these trials. You have to concider the fact that the majority of homeless have an inadequate education so they are unable to understand the serious health risks involved. If the drug being testing has negative effects (seizures) they do not have health insurance. Therefore in addition to living on the street and trying to stay warm they to to deal with the side effects of the drug.

It is easy for drug companies to commit such an unethical act because the less fortunate do not have any advocates. We need to speak for what is wrong and fight for what is morall just.
