We previously posted that we are extremely open to feedback from our student body. However, there is a very limited amount that we can do about generalized comments. We are once again requesting that any issue a student is having with the school be addressed through our formal grievance process.
If a student has a specific issue or concern, that is about their experience as an individual, then we absolutely can and will take action to address the issue. We would like them to first address it with the campus Director individually. If this step does not resolve the issue to their satisfaction, we ask that they follow our grievance procedure which will involve our corporate team. This process is outlined in the Student Catalog & Handbook and is available online on our website at www.phagans-schools.com
In addition, in our prior response to this petition, we previously set up an email address that goes directly to the corporate team. This was an easy way to provide one more avenue for students to express specific concerns. The email address is: [email protected]. However, we have not received one formal grievance or email in reference to this petition or the generalized concerns it outlines. Therefore, it is quite challenging for us to attempt to make any specific changes without direct and individualized communication from our students via the grievance and/or additional email process provided.
In closing, we would like everyone who signed and commented this petition to know that we do take it very seriously. As the owners of Phagans' Cosmetology Colleges, we are dedicated to creating educational environments that are respectful and foster self-confidence. We are working hard to make sure our corporate support team is focused on revisiting the topics of respectful communication with our our dedicated educators and administrators.

It breaks my heart to see those girls losing their drive and enthusiasm for their career path. They should be encouraged , inspired and lifted up everyday! They are expected to treat teachers with respect, but do not get it in return.

We are always disappointed to hear that a student has had an experience that did not improve their self-confidence. We welcome all feedback from students and guests. We are extremely passionate about the beauty industry, about educating our students, and truly believe in continuous improvement.
Unfortunately, there is a very limited amount that we can do about generalized comments. When we receive generalized feedback, such as this petition, we do consider it and take action where we believe it will make improvements, but results are not always immediate - noticeable change takes some time.
If any student has a specific issue or concern that is about their experience as an individual, then we absolutely can and will take action to address the issue, provided it is brought to our attention in an appropriate manner.

Though I respect the ambitious diligence of what you ladies are doing I'm afraid I will not be signing this particular Petition and ill explain why. Though there are some good points in the comment section I fail to see any solid requests or changes expressed in the actual/physical body of the document. There are also a few grammar issues that would make us as students look uneducated, not only to our superiors but also the one we will be presenting this official document too. Therefore, I cannot put my name on any legal document before knowing exactly what it is I'm actually signing. I do agree with some things you have pointed out and could even think of a few changes myself... Yet these things do not happen overnight and change is not always good. Via the phrase "Be careful what you wish for" This being said I am not opposed to a future Petition, as long as it has a description of the ideas, views, thoughts, evidence and detail in the actual form. God bless y'all and I'll see you tomorrow. P.s. Good Luck

I hope to see a positive change, I do not believe it is all bad. However there are many issues that need to be addressed and when you speak of them to anyone other that a student they tend to fall on deaf ears.

I would like to address how Newport Phagans has lost students but still books the same amount of clients, taking girls lunches, breaks, even some girls have gotten nervous to go to the bathroom during a haircut. We are pressed for time, haven't eaten or stopped all day, and using the excuse "real life will be like this" makes no sense. In real life we would schedule our clients appropriately. I love going to school but when I am SWEATING dripping on clients, shaky handed, its not fun for the client or for me. I just want our school to thrive, and for our students to actually survive!

I look back at my time at phagans and I'm disappointed in the education and treatment from staff that I received. The office staff (Amy and Debbie) are the only hope that school now has with certain instructors gone... the director herself, Debbie Patrick, is widely almost single handedly flushing thus bend campus down the toilet. She left me with nothing but bad taste and nothing good to say about her or the campus. Every meeting with her I had to show her how to calculate my hours and where I'm at in my education. She openly admits not liking kids or people, so tell me why is someone like that RUNNING A SCHOOL?!?!?! The passion for cosmetology isn't evident by anyone other than students and sadly it fades by the time they are seniors. I tell everyone I know there, just hold out till your done, you'll remember why you're there... the criteria is not up to date. The salon is usually out of products.
Sad to look back at what I paid for and not think it was worth it... I hope Karen takes this to heart and I hope that the staff understands that this isn't an attack but just a desperate plea from past, present and future students to makeover the system and school. Help us from step one to love our career.

The Newport Phagan's told me that even though I was having health issues that required many doctor appointments, they couldn't accommodate me by putting me to a part-time student.
I had to quit because of having to be able to make all the appointments, and if I didn't quit, my overtime pay to Phagan's would have been ridiculous.
If they would have been able to accommodate me I wouldn't have had to quit.
