We have the same situation. Your suggestion is excellent. It would need have no extra cost to DEFRA or they would use that as an excuse.

Many responsible owners (and their pets) suffer from this legislation. Surely if all paperwork in order pets should be allowed back into UK via approved Marinas.

Existing regulations are too easy to circumvent, so make it straightforward. Honest pet owners with chipped pets and have required paperwork and jabs/ dosing for worms and parasites should be allowed to bring in their pet, with proviso that they may be checked on arrival by border control. It is not difficult for the controllers to check that the required paperwork and measures are in place.

It's a crazy regulation which effectively prevents us taking our dogs to France, even though we have the necessary pet passports.
