PETITON AGAINST THE SALE OF AZIZANYA AND KEWONUR LANDS
Tourism is a foreign exchange earner for our dear country, Ghana. It also opens up the nation to the world. It allows us to foster unity with people in other parts of the world hither to we would not have known.
Tourism brings jobs to the door steps of the locals. It transforms the local economy of the indigenes. It also changes theirstandard of living. It enhances infrastructure development, such as good roads, hospitals, schools, potable drinking water, electricity( hydroor solar power ), and many more benefits to the locality.
However, beneficial the afore-mentioned will be to the state if possible the locals, should that be at expense of the existence and livelihood of theinhabitants of Azizanya and Kewunor? The people have lived there for over 100 years. My father who is eighty-six was born there and still lives there with other old folks, where do they go to.
I so confused as to why some government officials and other greedy chiefs and opinion leaders of Ada Foah will justify this inhuman venture with a foreigner who is noted to very disrespectful to the citizens( Ghanaians ), blacks in particulars.
Please where do these do these over a thousand locals go to.They are not use to any other environment apart from this ecosystem, the sea andriver.
The state claim there is short fall in our fish supply locally. These locals are engaging in canoe fishing on both the high sea and river volta tohelp solving this problem with any government support.
I am asking thestate represented by the minister of tourism and all others who matter in this urgent issue should be proactive in helping to resolve this volatile issue.
