Don't Cut Our Constant: Keep Mr. Steinert at ASA!
Since February 25th, 2026, ASA staff have been informed that 14 teachers will be laid off before the start of the 2026–2027 school year. Due to reduced funding and declining enrollment, the administration has announced significant cuts to faculty and internal programs in order to keep the school operating.
While we understand the financial challenges ASA is facing, the current decisions fail to recognize the lasting impact these cuts will have on our future. The teachers being sacrificed are not just employees, they are mentors, role models, and the backbone of our community. Many whom have dedicated decades to shaping generations of ASA students into confident artists, scholars, and strong, capable adults. Their influence extends far beyond the classroom; they are the reason ASA is not just a school, but a community.
ASA’s identity is built upon the strength of both its arts and academic programs. That balance, and the passionate arts teachers behind it, is what makes our school unique. Removing some of our most valued teachers risks weakening the very foundation that makes ASA special.
Across the country, schools have struggled since the COVID-19 pandemic. But hardship does not mean we must accept decisions that harm our community. Instead of standing by while invaluable mentors are dismissed, we can choose to stand together.
Change does not happen when we remain silent. It happens when we unite.
Individually, our voices may feel small. Together, they are powerful. Now is the time to advocate for the educators who have invested so much in us.
Please stand with us. Sign the petition below to support Mr. Steinert and protect the heart of our ASA community for another year, and beyond.
