Petition to Victoria City Council to allow Edible Cannabis Products in Greater Victoria Area Dispensaries
Edible derivatives of medical cannabis in the Greater Victoria Area are essential to a large number of medical cannabis users in the city.
It is easier to determine dosage using edibles from a professional producer than to estimate smoke-able concentrations for dosing, or to bake them at home, Edibles are the healthiest and most effective vehicle for most medical cannabis users and it is a problem to prohibit their sale in cannabis related businesses.
Edibles are used to produce a longer-lasting effect that assists with pain relief and aids sleep, and this is imperative for those struggling with conditions like chronic pain, advanced disease, or seeking relief from the effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
The patients who need it the most are those who are most limited in their ability to consume cannabis by other methods, and have the least capacity to bake these edible derivative products themselves. Regulations should exist to protect the patient, not prevent them from receiving the medicine they need.
Patients who cannot consume their medicine any other way are forced to use their own methods of extraction and production to create their own edibles at home. However, this creates a very serious problem with inaccurate dosage levels and imposes unnecessary labor on those with the least capacity. Professionally produced edibles from established and experienced producers can be trusted with accuracy of dosage and quality of product.
Ensure that edible cannabis products are not prohibited from those who need it most.

I have been hearing from so many of you who struggle to manage your pain because the medicine that works best is still being blocked from local shelves. It is exhausting to watch patients forced to labor over homemade batches just to find relief. I am currently spending my time drafting a follow-up proposal for the council to show them exactly why these professional products are a medical necessity instead of a luxury.

Seeing the momentum behind this issue reminds me how many people in our community are struggling to access the care they deserve. This support confirms that we are fighting for a basic necessity that the city has overlooked for far too long.

Edibles are vital for those of us that can not smoke it and live with chronic, unrelenting pain - those of us that want to be present in the day and not baffled out on pain meds
City of Victoria, as a former front line heath care worker I know the importance of accurate dosing. Edibles are the safest way to ingest cannabiniods for medicinal purposes. Forcing patients to inhale smoke is both hypocritical and ludicrous. Do the right thing. Please.
For me, this issue is about Freedom--internal freedom & about compassion. The main clients of these Cannabis-clinics are folks who've discovered that they can't get relief from pains of medical issues any other way, than by using Cannabinoids, of one type or another. Currently, except for Glaucoma, there are mostly not any Allopathic, substance specific drugs that do--for some people--what some Cannabinoids can do--ameliorating pain & facilitating mobility, function & etc. Yet, Federal Legislation & local criminal justice community class ALL Cannabis products in same category as narcotics--such as the opiates, or mainstream accelerants like methedrine, etc. This is neither rational, nor just.
Please allow edible derivatives of cannibas.
Supreme Court says my right to medicine includes edible format. access to safe clean options other than plant form should be mandatory!
For the love of god allow the edibles. You can't nerf the world.
Cannabis is medicine and it can be used in many ways, ingested in many forms.

Ive seen edible forms of cannabis help hundreds and hundreds of people. VIHA is limiting people with medical issues to smoking, vaporizing cannabis or making the edibles themselves which is a problem if they have mobility issues or cannot cook cannabis products at home.. this is outrageous.
