WSU’s Chancellor, Elizabeth Chilton, has decided to reorganize the Office of Academic Engagement, OAE, despite the lack of supporting evidence proving that these changes would be beneficial to the University, by transferring leadership to two other WSU departments whose values and practices do not align with the programs within OAE.

I have been reviewing the feedback regarding the proposed transition of the Office of Academic Engagement. Many of you have articulated clear concerns about how this structural change will disrupt essential student services. I am currently reaching out to university leadership to request a formal explanation for this decision.

It is the lack of conversation, consideration, and evidence that makes it hard to see that this decision was actually made to better serve students and not for some power trip, vindictive move.
Save OAE!! "Streamlining" has never in my eyes has bever benefitted minority populations and offered the type of support and community needed to reach out to the types people and provide the unique services OAE and the commons has.
OAE is a perfectly structured organization with an amazing dynamic between many backgrounds of people who work perfectly together. We do NOT need to be torn apart from the seams and restructured and lose the importance of how we work the way we do. OAE helps students from many walks of life who may struggle through college and gives them a boost to make sure that they can be successful.
Don't fix something that is not broke. The relaxed, homey feel of TheCommons and the staff there committed to the program will never be the same
Ridiculous decision. Stop trying to fix things that are working just fine. Leave OAE alone!

The OAE is the only reason I made it through my freshman year. Please dont take this away from students who actually need the support system.
