If the canals used for irrigation of crops were repaired properly, more water would reach the crops instead of being wasted-currently more than 60% of the water released never reaches those crops-some estimates are even higher. Our rural counties know how to conserve water- San Antonio needs to have a serious water conservation program instead of wasting the Edwards aquifer water on landscaping, pools, etc. Maybe stop expanding their development outside city limits into and near areas/counties that actually use water for food crops and livestock. Put a limit on commercial/residential water use, and/or a moratorium on development, if that is what it takes-because if we do not stop dying up these area lakes like Medina as well as stressing the aquifers, there will be no water for anyone eventually, and you won't be able to give away a commercial or sub-divided property, never mind selling it...

One of the main problems is too many people moving to the Hill Country putting in to many wells San Antonio pulling water for drinking. To fix the problem desalination in Port Aransas yes it will be expensive but this is the fix . Austin and San Antonio would quit pulling from the lakes .I know a lot of people are going say cost to much. They way we are going water going to be more valuable than gold.

Please save Lake Medina. The lake is currently being mismanaged, and has been for 10-15 years.

As Texans we should all be concerned about what is happening to our South Texas lakes. This may be a good start. Praying for rain.
