Gen Prac needs #reverseFEMPI ....even if Part 5 of the Public Service Pay & Pensions Bill 2017 means that our politicians need to devise an appropriate honest way of achieving this- rapidly.; ie would like to see some indication of steps in the right direction before the Dáil Summer recess.

Irish general practice funding funding for a 24/7/365 service is now down to less than 4% total health budget on 2017 data.
If FEMPI was reversed (€120-€160 million depending on source figure) and the Over-70s payments were returned to the 2008 payments levels but still redistributed equally between less and more affluent areas, that would be another €50 in 2017 prices.
Public and private Irish general practice would still be funded at much less than 5% total public and private healthcare spend, despite Irish general practice delivering chronic disease management, paediatric, antenatal, orthopedic medicine, contraception care and in some cases minor surgery which are services not provided by GPs in many other jurisdictions.
Yet even if these payments were returned to Irish general practice we would still be the LOWEST FUNDED NATIONAL GENERAL PRACTICE SYSTEM IN THE WEST.
What is going on?
Why the focus on the bureaucracy of a commoditised healthcare system which is proven to reduce the overall value of the system.
Who is benefiting from this mismanagement of state resources?

Save GPs ... they're invaluable to us, in a time that the healthcare is crumbling, we need good GPs, new GPs Current GPs don't boost another countries healthcare by forcing our good doctors to leave the country.

When you are done reversing your own FEMPi with no conditions would you mind reversing GP FEMPi

Fully in support of reversing fempi cuts to GP ASAP before the service damaged beyond recovery.it may be too late
