At the Thursday November 17th Member-Owners meeting, the Board of Directors informed the general membership of their decision to proceed with the smaller of two floor plans for the Allegany Harvest cooperative Market. We, the undersigned, support the larger floor plan and respectfully urge the board to reconsider their decision. It is our understanding that the professional cooperative consultants communicated that both floor plans were economically viable and that the more space we have, the better we will be able to serve our community. The larger floor plan would offer more organic and local foods, more bulk items, more natural cleaning supplies, and more non-toxic health and beauty items. Our vision for this cooperative market is not a boutique health foods mini-mart, but rather, a local food cooperative with as large of an inventory as is feasible. This expanded inventory would enable us to do much more of our shopping locally, thereby keeping more of our food dollars in Allegany County.
