I feel that under the current economic situation it would be irresponsible for the school board to build this costly field house.

This field house is far beyond what the fine people of Ashland and those in the school district can afford. This hike in taxes is unsustainable, and when will it stop? And have we thought of the maintenance and heat of this building? It's a great thought for more prosperous times... now is not the time.

All in for supporting our children and keeping teachers, administration and refurbishing facilities. Fiscally irresponsible to tack on a field house at this time

Invest this $ is business development for our area so families with kids will have work here! If our school was growing maybe we could talk about spending money on a bigger athletic facility.

For the about of financially strapped citizens in our community, this would be a travisty if pushed through. I will leave the area if decisions like these are continually made. How many of you board members pay BOTH city of Ashland and the increased school tax? (1)?

Before we spend this kind of money on a White Elephant that will need constant care and feeding, we need industry to provide jobs that pay enough for people to afford the taxes that will pay for the care and feeding.

Although I understand upkeep is needed for school buildings, please eliminate the completely unnecessary field house.

I was against this since day one. It makes no sense to take on more debt for something you can do without, especially when public schools are already struggling and so many living costs such as water and power are rising. This will be a hardship for most everybody, especially those on fixed incomes.

The taxes in the Ashland area are just to high already. Why do we want to raise them for a field house that is not a necessity? It doesn't make the quality of the education the students receive in the Ashland School District any better. Each year the field house will cost plenty to maintain and heat. Where does that money come from? I'm so surprised this referendum passed along with many others. We have many low income families in our community. They might not own and pay property taxes but it will effect them when their rent goes up. We have plenty of elderly people in our community who are on fixed incomes. As we all know in Ashland the upper pay scale jobs are few and far between.
