I am wholeheatedly in favor of this petition.
Please do not punish children by depriving them of the many enriching after-school programs that they currently enjoy. Please do not punish families by forcing parents to choose between their careers and their children's personal development. Please do not punish local business owners who provide a valuable service to families and often rely on these programs to stay in business.
One of the reasons ABRSD is a great district is because families have a wealth of choices for after-school programs. Please don't throw this great advantage!

As a supporter of local businesses and a previous teacher at Matthew Moncreaff's Martial Arts and Yoga Studio, I have seen first hand the positive impact that these after-school opportunities have had on the children who attend.
To exclude local business from acting as bus stops, the ABRSD would decrease the accessibility of services that promote learning opportunities and physical fitness. Many families and children benefit from the current system, and the proposed changes will do nothing but harm the Acton community.

Please don't go through with the proposal to change the bus routes. My family is dependent on my children being able to be delivered safely to guardianship while I work. Without this service my child would be unattended at home rather than participating in structured and beneficial learning. I know there are other families like mine who need to be at work during after school hours to pay the taxes that pay for the bus service in the first place

I am strongly against this proposal to change the bus plan. Both me and my wife go to work and we depend on the school bus to drop the kid at the after school places to learn more knowledge. This change will make my life very difficult and I am sure a lot of working families will face the same problem if this proposal passes through.

Moncreaff's is an amazing school and everyone there is so open, caring, and motivating. You can see the glow in the children's eyes working with Matthew and the success they achieve through the school is so inspiring. Their love and passion is contagious. Please do not take this gift from them.

I am very disappointed to this new school bus policy. Please explain the reason for this change. Actually starting from last fall's Thursday release time change to this bus innovation, I feel more and more uncomfortable for current school board decision.

If this goes into action, many students will lose opportunities for enriching extracurricular activities. Organizations that provide these extracurricular services, even if they can afford it, do not have enough advanced notice to make reliable transportation arrangements for their students. As such, the change in the busing policy risks putting these organizations out of business, damaging not only Acton's local economy, but also the services it has to offer its citizens.

This school bus stop change will cause giant impact to all families' life to school children's family. As parents in Acton, we are so grateful to the school bus system and all activities of children rely on this bus system. Any change to this system has to be very cautious and get the input of all Acton residents.
Please do not change the school buss stop policy without listening to all school children parents' idea. Potentially, this change will also impact to the real estate value at Acton, local business and many other aspects. It is worthy of a discussion of all Acton residents before we have any change.
Please do not make such a rush change to school bus system.

As a parent who works full-time outside of the Acton-Boxborough area, I depend on the school buses in order for my child to have any options for afterschool activities beyond what is offered by the district. In my view, eliminating this options discriminates against families who do not have a parent at home during the day to provide transportation.

Making such a dramatic change to the Bus Policy with only 10 weeks for local businesses to adapt is unfair and outrageous. Many businesses in Acton count on the bus service. This change would limit children to only one option, the Extended Day program. No more Karate, Dance, Yoga, Math etc. The only option for working parents will be Extended Day. This monopoly not only limits choice but will result in higher fees in the future for Extended Day. (Once all competition is wiped out they will be able to charge anything they want) Acton families pay taxes for the the bus service. They should be able to send their children anywhere in town after school. If this change has to happen it should be postponed until at least 2016 so that local businesses that depend on the Bus Service can adapt and set up alternative transportation options. 10 weeks is not enough time for us to do that. There are also other options like charging local businesses a fee based on how many children are bused there. There are many approaches that could be explored but again, 10 weeks notice is not enough time for local businesses to adapt. We need more time and we need to be included along with the parents in discussing, planning, and agreeing upon a fair and reasonable policy that benefits everyone.

The proposed school bus changes will make it very difficult for my kid after school activities. I work full time at cambridge. I can't drive her around after school everyday. I will have to quit my job.
Thanks, Huili
