We, the undersigned, petition the Broward County MPO to remedy the noise pollution problem caused by the damaging sound levels of train horns when passing through private neighborhoods in the downtown Fort Lauderdale area. As residents and business owners living within the vicinity of these road crossings, the noise caused by the train horns at all hours of the day and night is negatively impacting our right to the quiet enjoyment of our homes and condominiums; creating an environment that is detrimental to both health and well being; and limiting growth of small businesses due to an inability to have a professional work environment.
The frequency, volume, and hours of the train horns at night create a negative environment for sleep, healing, working, and the overall quality of life.
ACTION PETITIONED FOR: We, the undersigned, acknowledge that the "Quiet Zone" has been approved but is not scheduled to be implemented for 1 year. This timeline is far too long given the most urgent nature of the situation. We request the highest priority be given to this project, and implementation of the "Quiet Zone" be done before May 1, 2015.

As an owner in the Esplanade, the noise pollution problem is negatively impacting my ability to rent my apt, which is a principle investment, as welll as to use it when I'm there.
In addition to negatively impacting my personal quality of life, I also run a home based business and find if difficult to have productive phone conversations with my clients and vendors during the frequent train passings. Please work to mitigate this issue promply.
The new LOUD train noise and frequency has caused great distress to my quality of life in Ft. lauderdale. I recently put my home home up for sale and lost a sale on it due to the train noise. Needless to say, the noise is and will continue to have an impact on real estate in the downtown area.
I haven't had a peaceful night sleep since I moved into the New River Yacht Club. This noise from the train is effecting my health. Management should also share responsibility since they did not imformed me of how loud and disturbing it is to sleep in this building.
If I blew my car horn at 2am. Almost non stop thru Fort Lauderdale I would be arrested. So why on a track with not people, no cars and gates at all crossing do you blow your horns? The decibel level will cause hearing damage.
We just ask that in the middle of the night show some respect. Lately the conductors stay on the horn for the longest time and often without letting up.

The train horns are extremely loud and seem to get worse particularly at night. It scares my dog (and me) when I am out walking him. I have a heart condition and I really need my rest; however, I am awakened several times at night because of the horns. HELP!!!
