This new policy undermines professors who teach in specific ways. They should have the right to use whichever book they think will benefit their students. Also the extra cost to students is deterring to enrollment. We pay enough to the school already, we should not have to pay for something we disagree with.

This extra fee shit is FUCKING ridiculous!!!!! The only god damn reason I'm going to the alamo collages is so that I can save money and obviously that reason's been FUCKED. If new policies keep making me shit out money I don't have then I'm most likely gonna have to fuckin' quit going to school, period!

I'm not a huge fan of having to carry around my textbooks, but I hate it more that people think EVERYTHING has to be done electronically! I don't have a fancy smart phone or ipad, and neither do a lot of people. Some people don't even have a computer! I just think it's ridiculous, stupid and completely pointless. If this is the kind of s*** I have to look forward too (and I'm not sure I even want to continue college) than I don't want to be apart of a school like this. Unless the school wants to pay for my internet bill too, forget it.

Sometimes the instructors who teach the courses are the best ones to decide what the student reads. Leave this course alone... we pay for it we the students should have a say so.

Ebooks are very inconvenient! Who seriously wants to be limited to only a computer for reading course materialThe course material that professors select are just fine. Plus, charging the ebooks automatically without our consent takes away our freedom to purchase books at other cheaper sources. I strongly believe the instructors should retain the right to choose course materials.

I believe instructors should have the choice to choose what course materials they want to use. Our country is built on Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness and this policy is preventing our instructors liberties.

How can someone decide one specific text book to be assigned when so much more can be offered through other books as well? This is subjecting myself and other students to material that someone believes is what we should learn as opposed to the instructors teachings. Public schools assign text books. These are college classes teaching us to be opened minded. A simple ebook assigned from someone other than my instructor is just ridiculous.

Tuition prices are hard enough to pay out-of-pocket. Limiting our options to being forced to buy our material from the school bookstore only raises our cost and will make it even harder for the financially struggling student to be able to attend college. Sign the petition and end this nonsense!

Forcing students to purchase ebooks from them is basically monopolizing the textbook market for the alamo community college district. This could make us susceptible to lawsuits from L&M bookstore, Chegg.com, & other textbook retailers. Clealy Chancellor Leslie has little - if any- regard for the students.

The instructors know what course materials best accomodate their teaching styles. How can the board of directors determine what textbooks teachers should use? If this actually goes into affect, it will dillute the effectiveness of college courses. NOT all professors teach in the same way, so how can you force them to all teach from the same book? Also, technology is unpredictable and unreliable. LET'S STICK TO OLD FASHION TEXTBOOKS PLEASE!

Instructors should have the freedom to choose what text books they want to use in the classroom. Every instructor has different teaching styles and know how to best present the course material with text books that they choose. I absolutely love the text books that I am using in my history class presently and the way the material is presented is interesting and easy to understand. I feel that if we take away the freedom of instructors being able to choose what textbooks they want to use for their courses, this will only hinder students ftom benefiting from being exposed to a diverse selection of textbooks that are excellent.

I am a student at Palo Alto College and I think that instructors should have the freedom to choose what textbook they want to use in the classroom. Every instructor has different teaching styles and know how to best present the course material with text books that they choose. I absolutely love the textbooks that I am using in my Psychology class. I love using textbooks better then ebooks.

I hate starring at a computer screen for so long. I cant get on the computer until AFTER class because i do not have a fancy tablet and i cannot afford one. Textbooks need to be left up to the STUDENTS, NOT ADMINISTRATORS. I feel like im in high school all over again!!!
