Subject: Immediate Cessation of Egg Advertisements in Public Media

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the relevant authorities and media agencies to immediately cease the promotion of eggs through television, newspapers, and radio for the following reasons:

1. Health Concerns

Scientific research increasingly links excessive egg consumption to heightened risks of cholesterol-related issues, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers. Advertising eggs as a universally healthy food misleads the public, especially those with pre-existing conditions or dietary restrictions.

2. Ethical and Environmental Impact

Egg production is associated with serious animal welfare concerns, particularly in industrial farming environments. Moreover, the environmental cost of egg farming—including water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and land use—is considerable. Continued promotion ignores these concerns.

3. Public Misrepresentation

Egg advertisements often present one-sided, overly positive portrayals that do not reflect the full nutritional, ethical, or environmental reality. This leads to misinformation and misguides consumer choices.

4. Impact on Children and Vulnerable Populations

Media advertisements heavily influence children and other impressionable groups. Constant exposure to egg promotion normalizes their consumption without addressing the potential drawbacks, thereby contributing to unhealthy or unsustainable dietary habits.

We call upon:

• The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to regulate and restrict misleading egg advertisements in all public media.

• Media companies and advertising agencies to adopt ethical marketing practices that reflect balanced nutritional information.

• Health organizations to promote truly balanced and evidence-based dietary guidelines.

We, the concerned citizens, demand a responsible media environment that prioritizes public health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Sign the petition to make your voice heard. Let’s stop the egg promotion machine.

Sincerely,

NIRAJ VAGHELA
