The campus should be accessible by commuters from La Pine, Madres etc. There is simply no room on the west side.

We have all made mistakes and have regrets in life. Our integrity is measured by how we react and move forward. Clearly the community issues and concerns have not been adequately addressed. There has been no genuine partership attempted or achieved with Bend regarding OSU Cascades. The time has come to take a deep breath and regroup. The fact that the 10 acre first phase slipped through via a loophole does not mitigate the need for a long term master plan. All of Bend embraces a 4 year university, but not like this. The choice is simple. Keep raming this down our throats and build a permanent wedge with the great citizens of Bend. Or role model humility and integrity to your students and create a long term strategic master plan in partnership with the community.

Too late most likely, but it is a bad location.

Not enough acreage for expansion. Less than 1% rental vacancy this summer in Bend already. Crowded on-street parking in many westside neighborhoods already. Heavy traffic on Century Drive for recreationists during peak hours already. Proposed westside location doesn't make sense until the above is honestly addressed. University yes, Century Drive location no!

OSU has totally destroyed our neighborhood. More and more trees are down. It looks empty. I vote that OSU builds on more land and not on 10 acres.

Short sighted planning without a Master Plan is a recipe for failure. The assumptions for transportation and land use lack credibility and validate the saying "what do you want answer to be ?".

OSU-BendWestside ,is NOT the same as OSU-Cascades ; college age kids from surrounding towns ought not fight west side traffic for the benefit of a few powerful people.

Anybody in their right mind can see that the property on the west side of Bend is a terrible location for the new college. Why not develop on the east side and balance the city's growth. For too many reasons is building on the west side a very very BAD plan. If you can call it a plan.

The two-lane roads cannot handle the amount of proposed traffic, whether by car, bus, bike, or on foot. Plus, the full costs of reclamation of the pumice mine needs to be disclosed.

I am all for the university, and think there is a better location, I would like to see the college be able to grow and expand without the limitations.

I have lived in Bend for over 30 years. I moved here for the same reasons that so many others appreciate about our town. While I moved here to enjoy living in a small & quiet community, the explosive growth, especially on the Westside has, by and large, been done in a beautiful and responsible manner. The siting of the OSU campus is inconsistent with the positive aspects of growth that have happened to date. The gridlock that is already happening many times each day on multiple roundabouts and bridge crossings is just the tip of the iceberg.
Initially I was in favor of the idea of a 4 year university. Unfortunately OSU continues to disregard the wishes of those who care about the future of Bend. Taking down the trees in advance of having permission to build is another show of the hand and does not bode well for our community. Shame Shame. There are parts of Bend where the community is crying out for attention from the city regarding livability issues. Those are the areas that could use the influx of time, energy, money & bright ideas to enrich and enliven.
The current location is not the right area for the impact that will come.
REST the WESTside. It has been loved enough.

Stop the college now. We want a fully thought out campus with room to grow . Who would send their child to a campus next to a landfill and possibly on a pumice mine!
