The university has decided to abandon the plans for the westside campus and I am honestly still in shock. This win belongs entirely to the community members who spoke up when it felt like nobody was listening. Please keep paying attention to what happens next so we can protect the …

PETITION: From Central Oregonians

TO: Oregon State University (Dr. Ed Ray) and Oregon State University-Cascades (Dr. Becky Johnson)

We, the undersigned, petition OSU and OSU-Cascades to cease all plans for, and development of, the proposed westside Bend campus (10-acres or more) (at Chandler Ave. and Century Dr.) and work with the residents of Central Oregon to find a site which will be optimal, both for the University and for the Central Oregon Community which it serves.

I certify that I am a resident of Central Oregon, and/or a business owner in Central Oregon, and that I have not previously signed a petition sheet for this request.

The idea of building a university on a hazardous waste site is absurd, and the money it would take to shore it up would translate into endless taxation! For the future health of Prospective students and our taxpayer pocketbooks, no thank you.

Quit the boutique design ideals of our community. Place this institution where it can grow over the years. It should anchor a new distict, not wedge itself into an existing mature area of town. Resident since 1998. East side homeowner.

I support the establishment of a 4 year campus in Bend. The current location puts unacceptable burdens on the existing infrastructure . There is very limited potential for the expansion of the campus and supporting business and research facilities.

I want the university in town but the location is terrible. Put it on the east side and increase the value of everyone's property. The location is not good for traffic and limited affordable housing options for college students on a limited budget!

I totally support a four year college in Bend, just not at the chosen location. Why not let the residents of Bend vote on this...give several options for other locations, after all we are the people who will be most affected by the college.

I love the idea of a 4 year university in Bend. However, the plan to site it on top of a pumice mine leaves much to be desired. We need to place this school where there is room to grow, and everyone has access-the Westside is not that place.

Very disappointed that Juniper Ridge was bypassed.
