Petition to Stop Common Core in Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools

Thank you for your efforts to stop Common Core implementation. If stronger standards are needed, please use those of Texas (see TEA website). Blessedly, Texas does not use the CCSS. Best luck in stopping CCSS- Catholic IS Our Core.

Public schools across American are bending to the Federal created Common Core, for what reason? Control of how to educate our children, Congratulations to the diocese of Pittsburgh for standing ground. Its a sad state of affairs when we the people must fight for our rights and those who only care about taking away our rights to be replaced with theirs prevail........Stop the Madness

I expect that any child that is taught in a Catholic school will be taught the fundamentals of a good education. Not the drivel and backwardness that is Common Core. Least of all the secularism and indoctrination that is rampant in the curriculum that is driven by the Standards should not be taught to any child and certainly not Catholic children.

A monolithic national school system is the opposite of the Catholic principle of subsidiarity where control is placed at the lowest possible point. This is being pushed by the same administration that want to eliminate our freedom of religion.

Who are these people that would teach things contrary to the faith to our children? I am referring to Common Core Catholic Identity Initiative (CCCII)

In response to the Common Core, more than 500 experts signed the Joint Statement of Early Childhood Health and Education Professionals on the Common Core Standards Initiative. This statement now seems prophetic in light of what is happening in classrooms. The key concerns they raised were: 1. Such standards will lead to long hours of instruction in literacy and math. 2. They will lead to inappropriate standardized testing 3. Didactic instruction and testing will crowd out other important areas of learning. 4. There is little evidence that such standards for young children lead to later success. Many states are now developing standards and tests for children in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade, to "prepare" them for the Common Core. Stop Common Core in our Catholic Schools.

Don't sell out our kids. This is devastating. Dumbing down our kids.

I'm signing the petition to Stop Common Core in Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools. The Common Core distorts the Church teachins and attempts to promote non-traditional and same-sex marriage as morally acceptable, as well as other activist material. This is being done by the same administration that wants to eliminate our freedom of religion.

I fully support this petition to oppose the implementation of Common Core in Pittsburgh Diocese schools.

No way!!! The reason I sent my children to Catholic schools was to get away from the government indoctrination schools.

Common Core has no business in any school.

I actively oppose common core principals being adopted into Catholic education . Catholic education has always stood alone against any form of indoctrination not aligned with Catholic beliefs . The acceptance of common core is the selling out of Catholic doctrine for financial gain . The church can ill afford to lose any more supporters. Now is the time to stand against common core before it is too late.

Local control and input is lost with the adoption or adaption of Common Core. If the Pgh. diocese does not rescind their support of CC, then every student in a Catholic school should withdraw. What's the point??
