Petition to Show Student Support
STUDENTS, THIS IS PROOF THAT YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE, AIM IS TO SEE HOW MUCH OF THE TWO CLASSES FEEL DISADVANTAGED, FULL NAME PREFERRED (OTHERWISE GO ANONYMOUS)
We, the Year 12 VCE PE students, are concerned that the teaching we are receiving is not meeting the standard required for such a crucial subject. The teachers currently assigned to us are underqualified to teach VCE PE, and as a result, our education and future results are being placed at a disadvantage.
Our main concerns include:
- Inaccurate feedback: We often receive feedback that is incorrect or inconsistent, leaving us more confused rather than supported.
- Reliance on the textbook: Lessons are frequently reduced to teachers reading directly from the textbook, something we could easily do ourselves without guidance.
- Lack of subject knowledge: Teachers struggle to explain even basic PE concepts and are often unable to answer simple student questions.
- Extra workload on students: Because of the lack of effective teaching, we are forced to teach ourselves the entire subject from the ground up. This takes away valuable time and focus from our other VCE subjects, putting our overall ATAR performance at risk.
- Unacceptable use of AI: We have caught teachers using AI tools to mark SACs and complete tasks that go beyond what is appropriate or allowed. This undermines the integrity of our assessments and further disadvantages us compared to other students across the state.
This situation is unfair. Students at other schools have access to qualified VCE PE teachers, while we are left without the proper support to succeed in one of our assessed Year 12 subjects.
This petition is being circulated to see how many students in our VCE PE cohort share these concerns, so that school leadership understands the extent of the issue.
We are calling on the school leadership to urgently appoint properly qualified and experienced teachers to deliver VCE PE. If this cannot be resolved, then students should be granted SEAS consideration, as our cohort has been significantly disadvantaged through no fault of our own.
