I know several *excellent* researchers at the Volcani Center and support their position to oppose relocating the Center. We have a saying in the U.S. : "If it aint broke, don't fix it." Clearly, the Volcani Center is active, productive, important, and "not broken." I imagine that the reasons for the proposed move are largely political and/or financial and that they are far under-estimating the harm of the move on the scientists and(importantly) the science, thus doing a disservice to your nation and its people and, indeed, to the entire global academic community.

Researchers I've worked with at the Volcani Center have epitomised the ideals of cooperation and collaborating that are needed to solve global problems of agriculture and environment.

Moving the Volcani, which I know well from many years of scientific interactions in Israel, will be a real mistake with long-term consequences. There is no compelling reason to do this.

The center provided me with great insights in post harvest of cut flowers

During my long standing contacts and collaborations with Volcani, the Center always was a highly relevant scientific location in the middle of other renowned institutions that should definitely not be changed. Only the present location makes it the great partner for researchers worldwide in the area of plant science and agriculture.

I have a long standing research cooperation with the Volcani Center and I hope that the location and structure of this prestigious and internationally renowned Center for Agricultural Research will remain unchanged.

Our collaboration with the Volcani Center has been most fruitful, scientifically speaking, due to the world-renowed expertise of Volcani colleagues in the areas of biochar and soil erosion research. No less, important, I believe, this collaboration has contributed to put Israel on the map of the Portuguse scientific community as well as the Portuguese society as a whole.

Volcani is a world-wide recognised research center. Do not damage it, please!

Please do not change anything regarding Volcani Centre. It is a top scientific institution ideally located in the central part of Israel. Vicinity of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Weizmann Institute make it even more significant. Students attending Volcani Faculty prepare their masters' theses and doctoral dissertations. Over a vast number of years, scientists have organized their own and the lives of their families in the vicinity of Volcani Centre. The peak researching experience of numerous students attending doctoral and postdoctoral studies, me being one of them, is linked with Volcani Centre. Vicinity of airport and of transportation network are convenient for foreign students. By its relocation, Volcani Centre would lose a lot of its significance and authenticity which are directly related to its present location and which make it world famous. I must point out that at four different instances I have spent over a year in Volcani and that my feelings towards the Institute are similar to those that I have towards my own home. Volcani gave me its hospitality when I lost my own Faculty and became a Kosovo refugee. We hope that you will find understanding for our standpoints. We want to find Volcani on the same location next time we visit Israel. Yours faithfully, Prof dr Zoran S. Ilić
