This world-class institute must remain intact and serve the needs of Israel and the world.

If this report of relocation is accurate, in my opinion, the move will diminish Israel's high reputation in agricultural research currently held by the international scientific community.

The Volcani is one of the premier agritcultural research institutions in the world. To close or even consider such an atrocity is amazingly short-sighted and lacking in any vision for the future. This institution must be saved, the government of Israel must consider the food security of its people and the scientific contributions made by this institution for the world.

It is very worrying and would be an enormous loss if the plans for closing the Volcani are going through. The Science and the scientists there are excellent.

I had the best working experience at the Volcani Center in the year 2012.

In light of the urgent need for agricultural research to address an expanding population, increasing water demand, and climate change, it is short-sighted and naïve to believe that we can meet these challenges by closing the research institutions that contribute so much to society. I echo Randy Ploetz - "what a bad idea this would be!"

The Volcani Center is an important resource that gains additional synergistic impacts by cooperating with nearby institutions. Moving it to another location would endanger many collaborative activities.

I cannot emphasize what a bad idea this would be. The proposed move would profoundly erode Israel's capacity for agricultural research.

The Volcani Center is a world leading institution uniquely situated to provide synergistic relationships among faculty at many institutions around the world. Please do not close this world class institution.

Research at the Volcani Center has impacts that extend far beyond Israel. This precious resource merits continued support at its current location.

Synergy is key to scientific innovation. The Volcani enjoys a superb international reputation as a powerhouse of innovative agricultural research - leveraged by its connectivity to the key Israeli research institutions in the center of the country AND to a diversity of agricultural practice in the country. We in the international scientific community can see no logic for the proposed move to the northern frontier.

I have cooperated very successfully with colleagues from the Volcani Center in a joint project funded by the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development. I do not understand why this location should be closed. It is perfectly equipped for agricultural research und easily to reach for foreign scientists. Therefore, I strongly support this petition.

I know the institution well by a long and fruitful cooperation. We have established strong professional and personal relationships. In my opinion, the relocation of the institute will lead to a break in the scientific activities or even the decline of the institute. As a result there will be a weakening of Israeli agriculture.

I know the Volcani Center well since i have visited it, worked there and appreciated the location and success of its people. I absolutely do not understand why it should be moved to the far north 2h by car from the airport. Therefore, I strongly support the petition!

I support the petition and see no need to move a distinguished research institute to a new area where it will have to begin anew in understanding the cropping fields, build new buildings, and relocate staff. The research and impact of the Volcani Center will be diminished.

I have visited the Volcani a number of times since 1986, given seminars there, and learned a lot - and met some remarkable people who have remained friends. Moving it from where its employees are able to have VERY productive local interactions, to a place where they can not, strikes me as being simply foolish.
