It saddens me to hear the possibility of our town loosing this green space. I have been taking my kids to play since they were little and every summer my parents (75 and 82) look forward to spending their evenings listening to music. Its one of the only places we have in town that promotes active living.

No town should ever loose green space and waterfrontage in this day and age. It would be a disgrace!

It's time to STOP taking from the Northside and start giving. Our communities have had enough of being basically ghost towns while Sydney's getting new flower beds and cruise ship docks. If our communities don't matter, then maybe our votes WILL!!

Ppl spend more time today looking at a screen & less of nature. My family as well as many more spend the best times here together. Worried about drugs around our towns & communities; keep taking our outdoor recreation and more problems will arise. Maybe it should be considered to tear down some of the boarded up builings n homes and give us ALL another reason to be happy n PROUD Cape Bretoner's.

this is what I think...this town is becoming a slum in the down town core, it is no more attractive or welcoming than a malignant hemorrhoid. Take what you can, where no one seems to care, your town, your tax base, your hospital, your schools. Jobs? What jobs? That is what is happening, in the name of making Sydney more attractive, but look at what it is costing you the residents. Take a good hard look at what becoming a part of this municipality has cost the Town of North Sydney. Now remember where we stood prior to having the guts sucked out of this town before a forced joining. The ONLY thing that looks half decent, in the down town district...albeit poorly managed in this town is that piece of property. Let them take land on the other side of where the old slip was. I think I am more disgusted daily, wake up, smell the coffee!!. I have already heard that a deal has been struck and the property is essentially sold. I have no idea at this point whether that thought is hearsay or in fact true. If the citizens in this town do not make a joyful noise about where we are most certainly headed, we can just sit back and watch the place be dismantled piece meal, and there will be no one to blame but ourselves. I would also like to make it clear this is not a time to point the finger of blame at anyone, This mess was created long before our present Mayor and council took over, political bashing and name calling is ignorant and unproductive.

SAVE OUR ARCHIBALD'S WHARF!
I emphasize the word "OUR!"
It is not the Mayor, nor the councillor's decision to make!
We the people collectively should decide what we gain or lose in this deal. Put it to a vote I say!

We all know how the promises of many jobs go. We all how the promises of well paying jobs go. They never happen. A very devoted group of business people are trying to improve our downtown. How in the name of God will this help? Yep, destroy the little bit of eye candy we have, that should really attract more businesses, customers, and tourists. Our town moto is "The Gateway to Newfoundland ". In other words, don't stay, just pass through. Indian Beach has nothing to do with our downtown. It is for leisure. We need money spent in order to keep our downtown businesses afloat. We need money spent to attract new business and keep those already here thriving.

From an email I sent to the Mayor and Council:
I wish to voice my concern about the possibility of selling the Archibald’s Wharf property to Developers as recently reported through several social media outlets.
My parents (aged 75 & 82 years) live walking distance from the wharf and frequent it often in the spring, summer and fall. It would be a great loss to them if the park was to be commercially developed. This location provides them with opportunities for social and physical wellbeing which go beyond the physical structures on that site. It is simply a quiet, scenic, green space to go and be well.
As a former resident of North Sydney I return frequently with my family of five including twin seven year old daughters to spend time with my parents and two sisters. It would be a modest estimate to say my girls spend at least half of their free time playing on the “Pirate Ship” play structure on the Wharf grounds. This is only interrupted by frequent trips to the “Chill Zone” for ice cream and slushies’. They also enjoyed learning about the town “Dad grew up in” from the many interpretation panels I read to them. My girls look forward to going there and bring it up immediately when a trip to their grandparents is mentioned.
Care for the health and well-being of the residents of (and visitors to) the municipality needs to be foremost on any governments agenda. I strongly encourage you and council to remove Archibald’s Wharf from any possibility of future commercial development.
