University of Mary Washington students, alumni, and supporters have become enraged over the recent movement to censor the university's newspaper title. There has been no evidence published to support the board's claim that it "propagated violence and did not honor our school's history in a sensitive manner."

The supporters of Mary Washington would like to have their voices heard on this issue, as it has created quite an uproar. We would also like to be provided evidence for such claims of violence, and proof that a simple title caused them.

The University of Mary Washington is known for it's historic preservation program, would it not be counterintuitive not to preserve the title of our newspaper that has been around ninety-six years?
