Marvel Rivals' upcoming reworks for Jeff the Land Shark and Thor are not just nerfs — they are playstyle-destroying reworks. Both characters were never dominating the meta, yet they’re being reworked in ways that gut their identity and fun. We ask Netease to listen to the player base and revert these changes.
Jeff the Land Shark – From C-Tier to Useless
Jeff’s entire kit is being nerfed:
- Healing wave reduced and now barely deals damage
- Primary damage nerfed
- Healing bubble weakened
- Hide ability nerfed
Jeff was already a C-tier hero, and this pushes him into D-tier. His strength was flexibility — flanking, poking, supporting. He was fun to play because he offered something different from other healers.
Now:
- His damage is low
- His healing is low
- His mobility and survivability are weaker
Other heroes are far stronger and untouched:
- Psylocke has infinite flanking with stealth
- Black Panther can fly through teams with ease
- Iron Fist has auto-lock melee, shield generation, healing, and an easy escape
- Bucky and Magik generate near-infinite shields just by rotating abilities
All of these are A-tier characters. Jeff was barely B-tier, and now he’s being gutted. He was the only healer with a unique and flexible playstyle. This rework completely removes what made him enjoyable and distinct. He was never a problem in the meta — so why remove what little value he had?
Thor – Rework That Makes Him Squishy and Unfun
Thor’s hammer throw now has a 6-second cooldown, and he is pushed toward using Awakening more frequently.
This is a serious issue:
- Awakening makes him very squishy, and is risky to use unless behind cover or in a tank comp
- Thor used to be a brawler and angle challenger — solid, reliable, and rewarding
- The Season 1 version of Thor had a balanced and satisfying playstyle
This rework forces players into a high-risk playstyle that undermines his role as a frontline presence. It removes the versatility and strength that made Thor fun to play. He wasn't dominating the meta, and this rework downgrades him from A-tier to B-tier, unnecessarily.
The Bigger Problem
These changes are not simple balance updates. They are complete reworks that:
- Strip away the unique identities of both heroes
- Make them less fun, less viable, and less effective
- Ignore what made them stand out and enjoyable
Neither Jeff nor Thor were meta-dominant. These changes feel unjustified and are based on misguided balance logic. Instead of lifting underused characters, the update dismantles what made them worth playing.
We urge the developers: Please revert the reworks and preserve the original playstyles that many players enjoy.

No one with skill wanted these changes jeff true playstyle is a dps flanker with a little bit of healing in a triple sup meta And unlike the other trip sup Metas it's fun because he takes skill
Thor specifically. The skill expression and dynamic ways to play the character are all but gutted, and now you NEED to rely on Awakening. However, now that you're IN Awakening all the time, you're more vunerable since you're generating less overhealth and have no movement options. You're almost useless now. It's horrible.
I love Jeff,.he is a very family friendly guy and I would hate to see him turn into what would essentially turn out to be a sprinkler, able to stand still and heal everyone and damage everything at the same time as I feel this.would take away the variety that makes Marvel rivals so unique. My in game name is BookArcher
Both changes seem drastically worse for already “underperforming” characters in terms of play time. If you want to make Thor better you could give lightning relm lower cooldown, 2 charges damage reduction while inside or make it a 200 hp shield. Any of those would increase his viability a bunch and not sacrifice multiple aspects of his kit. Or just keep hammer on native cooldown but it also give force back on hit. Basically literally any other change than what you put out.
He was my main and they ruined everything and called it a "buff" one of the most fun characters in any game has become a lame healbot. PLS keep og Jeff, he convinced me to play those game, and may now convince me to leave
revert it PLEASE. they made Thor a poke character, and made him lame :c
this is terrible i didn't play rivals for some time came back 2 days ago played ranked with a friend and i tried doing my melee rotation with the hammer throw (i didn't read the patch notes ) and im spamming my hammer throw to get shield and my brain didn't understand what happened then i read the patch and omg i was so mad thor is my main im in diamond and have like 60 hours on him he already was considered a bad tank but i liked him because of his aggressive melee playstyle and this is such a huge nerf why give him another abillity to recover resources when first of all the whole mechanic of staying alive is to spend it and get a shield and second there's already 2 ability's his e and melee after you use either hammer throw or dash and also awakening is not really that good it i always seen it as a poke for when your against flying enemies or u want to stay with the team for some reason . btw it is more comic accurate to have thor more in melee whats the point of the hammer if you just throw lighting this is thor not zeus

I feel like Thor nation doesn't have as much as a voice as the Jeffs, but they need one too because the Thor changes have made him so much worse. Also thor force inflation is real
