Petition to restrict wave surfing on Beaver Lake

Wave surfing is damaging the shoreline and docks of Beaver lake. They should be banned or at least restricted.

I’ve seen real damage done to docks first hand. Wave surfing needs to be restricted to prevent serious dock damage.

The wake boards are very effective at producing "wakes" -- long lasting and repetitive wakes that eat away at the shore line. They are a threat to much of the Beaver shoreline and ought to be restricted to areas where they do no harm.

The shoreline has been devastated by wakeboarding. My dock is under constant repair and , this increasingly destructive activity has to stop now. The damage to the environment and to personal property is out of control and the Corp needs to take action. We would be happy to assist in helping to formulate the restrictions to assure this doesn't become a protracted study as the problem is obvious and needs to be addressed immediately . We recommend an interim moratorium until sensible regulations such as the ones offered in this petition can be implemented.

Our shore is eroding, we have several trees that have fallen into the lake. A section of land has dropped into the lake. We also need a buoy to keep all boats away from our docks. There are too many wakeboarding and other boats that come to close. Don't know if they are owners or renters.

Sounds like wave surfing should be reserved for the ocean. Preserve our beautiful Beaver Lake!

Please protect the integrity of the Beaver Lake shoreline...everyone should be able to enjoy the lake ... wakeboarding is interfering with property owners ability to take care of their docks. Reasonable use as mentioned should satisfy the wakeboarders and maintain the lake use for others. Thank you, Carolyn Swaney

We’ve had property on the lake for over twenty years. Wake surfing has been the single most destructive force unleashed on the lake. Wake surfing waves are getting bigger by boat design. Without restrictions, this industry will cause even more, very costly damage to the lake and property, public and private. Please, implement restrictions, now. The damage is obvious. Thank you.

The issues in this petition need your attention asap. The destruction of the shoreline accelerates more and more each year due to the wave surfing. Won't be long before the "corps line" in some places will be in the water!

Please understand the destruction of docks and shoreline by this "new" obsession at Beaver Lake. We, as dock owners, have invested a lot in our docks and until this activity, we have had few problems with lake activities. Thank you.

Wave surfing over the last 5 years has cost me thousands in repairs and problems with erosion 10-fold the amount incurred during the previous 20+ years I've have my dock. Unlike big storms that come by 4 or 5 times a years, surfers are making large waves at the rate of 4 or 5 times an hour during the boating season. Plus this action makes it impossible to stay on my dock without getting seasick. With the Corp allowing uncontrolled large-wave boat surfing, I and other property owners are having our rights tresspassed on. Plus the Corp forces me to repair all damage to my dock and shoreline trees or they will not renew my permits. The Corp has a responsibly to control this problem.
