Petition to Reschedule San Diego CIF Beach Volleyball Championships

Let’s make CIF fair, inclusive, and conflict-free.
We, the students, athletes, parents, and supporters of San Diego high schools, respectfully urge CIF San Diego Section officials to reschedule the CIF Championship weekend to avoid conflicts with major academic and school events, namely AP Exams and prom.
Currently, the CIF Championship falls on a weekend that overlaps with:
• AP Exams – affecting students’ academic performance and causing unnecessary stress.
• High School Proms – a memorable
milestone for many juniors and seniors.
This conflict forces student-athletes—many of whom are also high-achieving students and leaders in their school communities—to choose between their championship dreams, their academic future, and their high school memories.
Moving the CIF Championship to a different weekend supports:
• Fair competition (with full, present teams)
• Mental well-being (avoiding burnout and stress)
• Equity (giving every athlete a chance to fully participate)
We call on CIF to reschedule the championship to a weekend that does not conflict with AP testing or school proms, allowing students to thrive in both athletics and academics.
Don’t make us choose. Back our student-athletes and sign below.
