Miami Beach faces an extremely difficult future as Sea-Level Rise advances, and will invest hundreds of millions of dollars to protect itself. MB needs all the friends it can find.
Non-profits take on missions that compliment government, filling gaps.
ECOMB has been a steadfast friend to MB. In addition to the many valuable services in this petition, ECOMB has raised the bar on sustainability and created measurable impacts. ECOMB is working to keep MB from drowning.
For a very nominal cost (the office), MB enables a hard-working and creative partner who works to make MB a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable place.
The question that the City of MIami Beach should ask is not whether they can negotiate a better deal. That is false economy.
The question is:
If ECOMB is out of business, or services are degraded by the loss of the office, does this make MB a better, safer, cleaner place?
The answer:
NO.
