Petition to remove inappropriate content from children’s department at naugatuck Public library

- If you live in Naugatuck, and you’re a parent. You are always looking for events and resources to keep your children engaged.
The public library in town has great resources, and events to keep children engaged.
An incident happened where a 4 year old got a hold of a very explicit book in the children's department section of the Howard Whittemore Memorial library.
The title of the book is Tell me: what children really want to know about bodies, sex and emotions by Katharina von der Gathen”. This book was purchased by the library and put in their system.
As a mom I filed a report for the library to reconsider this material and have it removed as the content of the book was too graphic for a child to read or even see. However the library mentioned that the book was a good material to keep in their circulation system.
After speaking with the library I am requesting an appeal, and I am now reaching out to the parents of the local community to raise your voice and give your opinion.
As a mom, dad, grandma, uncle, aunt, we need to stand up for those who are most vulnerable, and those who do not have a voice, our children. They do not know right from wrong, but we do.
If this book is not removed from the library’s circulation system. It gives a chance for other children to get a hold of it. This book opens a can of worms in a child’s mind that shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Let’s stand up for our kids. Let’s protect their minds, and their rights to have a safe learning environment.
please sign this petition to let the Naugatuck public library board know that as a local( mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandma) from town you do not agree with having this book in our local library.
Please do not donate after signing.
