Petition to Reinstate Robin Powers’ Classes at LillStreet
As current and former students, colleagues, and friends of long-time Lillstreet Ceramics teacher Robin Powers, we respectfully request that her usual figure and small sculpture classes be offered in Summer 2019.
Many of us have been fortunate to benefit from Robin’s excellent guidance and highly individualized support in her classes during the ten years she has taught at Lillstreet. She has many loyal regulars who frequently are jockeying to secure a coveted spot in her classes. These classes fill up long before early registration ends since there are truly no other comparable classes – both in terms of the subject matter covered, as well as Robin’s own uniquely supportive and generous personality.
We were shocked to hear from Robin that her contract would not be renewed this summer, apparently because she didn’t reply to an email with a summer contract (from Ceramic Director David Trost) that unknowingly went to her spam folder.
We believe that there has been a tremendous misunderstanding and miscommunication that could easily be fixed before the Summer Session classes are promoted and without any long-term harm to anyone.
We hope that a prompt and satisfactory resolution to this simple request is possible. If for scheduling reasons it is impossible to offer Robin’s classes this summer, we hope that at a minimum her classes will resume in the Fall and beyond.
