Petition to reinstate Forest School for year 1 upwards at Waldringfield Primary School

What drew you to choose Waldringfield for your child? Was it a rich and diverse curriculum that included Forest School, Arts and Music?
Us too.
Sadly year 1 upwards are currently no longer receiving forest school lessons since Mrs Brinsley’s retirement. As parents we are trying to persuade Mrs Woods that Forest School is a really important part of what makes our kids love Waldringfield School and also a huge part of why we chose the school.
So far we have not had much luck in persuading Mrs Woods that she should re-instate Forest School lessons at least for years 1 and 2, but also further up the school too.
We think that the message might have more impact if we can show that a majority of families agree.

Whilst I appreciate there is an ever growing pressure to strive for good literacy and maths targets my child's wellbeing out weighs this. Outdoors time is essential to our children mental health the more time we can provide for them connecting with nature is better.
I would love my child to continue forest school beyond reception. I think it’s a really important part of learning for the children.
I feel that forest school is really important. Especially during such trying times for children, when ultimately covid safety measures means they are much more restricted at school. These play experiences in nature, are so important for a childs social and emotional development and their over all wellbeing.
Forest School is my child’s favourite thing at school. Without it she is missing out and I fear she will enjoy learning less.

The forest school was a big pull for us when we were looking at schools. It is such a wonderful environment to learn in and such a rich resource.
