I can't imagine why Dr.Bartlow was dismissed to be begin with. My understanding is that the associate professor responsible for the bigoted rant against the mural is still employed, even after personally attacking a colleague in a public forum.

Personally, I don't think Dr. Bartlow should seek reinstatement at this University, if it may even still be called that for its sheer wealth of ignorance. Such conservative institutions should not be acquainted with true places of learning. Instead, she should seek a position at a school where her qualities will be truly appreciated. That being said however, I feel a strong sentiment of facing the opposition at their own doorstep, and the student body at Marquette certainly needs someone as strong at Dr. Bartlow in the face of the darkening nature that is the administration.

Even though one may disagree with the choice of content for the mural, such disagreement would hardly justify what I can only see as an ad hominem attack on Dr. Bartlow and a failure to weigh her many achievements in any worthy scale of justice.

As an alum, hearing of the firing of Dr. Susannah Bartlow was a shock and a disappointment. My time at Marquette was greatly shaped by the presence of the GSRC and the work of staff such as Dr. Barlow, and this loss is at the detriment of current students, future students, and the Marquette community as a whole.

As an alum, I am devastated to hear about the firing of Dr. Bartlow. She is an integral part of Marquette's more inclusive future, and not having her on staff will certainly serve as a detriment to Marquette now and moving forward.

Dr. Bartlow is indeed an invaluable asset to the Marquette community. She never hesitated to take time out for me, whether to help me with a story for the Marquette Wire or to help me plan a week of diversity programming for Schroeder Hall residents. Her reinstatement to her job would mean so much to the countless MU students who she has impacted, as she is a precious resource for all students at Marquette.
