Russell, your comment is completely untrue and not even the slightest bit factual. Don't put things out there that you do not know to be true and that are completely erroneous.

Mr. Belanger was pushed out of his job as a teacher and coach in Zumbrota-Mazeppa MN by both the community, school board and students, after being football coach there for many year in a well publicized local controversy related to his teaching, arising from his student's complaints. It would be useful to find out the circumstances why he was forced out there and why Frederic hired him next, and then ask him directly what were the circumstances of losing his job in each case. I lived in the area at the time and remember the ongoing issues brought up in the local newspaper.

If the school board decides he has done something wrong, I hope they offset that by Mr. Belanger's long history of doing what is good and true. How serious is the offense? We in the community are trusting the school board will do the right thing.

As a football coach, I know how difficult it is to stay motivated and "in the game" on a yearly basis. Coach B has been the coach, mentor, leader, and father figure for thousands of young men. Being that he has been at this for 50+, years, I know the students and players of Frederic have so much to gain. As much as people look to coach B as the leader/coach, he is still a constant student of the sport.
He keeps his mind open and full as he attends numerous college football games on Saturdays. Ken is the ultimate competitor, and teaches his players to play this way. The Vikings football teams' have are always well prepared, and always compete at their highest level. I know I've been forced to become a better coach just by coaching against Coach Bellanger.

I have known Mr Belanger for 30+ years. He is a coach that you want your kids to have. He not only coaches but teaches life lessons. I have the utmost respect for him. I have been on the high school football sidelines as a statistician and fan for many years many of which were with Mr Belanger. I witnessed an amazing coach with both winning and losing teams. I was a track athlete and had lots of respect for the #1 starter in both Wisconsin & Minnesota. I now work track meets and witness the respect athletes have for him. My kids were not lucky enough to have him as a coach or teacher and as a mother this saddens me; however, they did get to know him as a track starter and were able to witness him as a football coach as we tried to attend some Frederic football games. My son has had football conversations with Mr Belanger and has nothing but praise for him. I guess what I am trying to say is you have made a mistake. He is a wonderful coach, teacher, and friend to all he has coached!

Coach has helped shape me into the man I am today. He has affected thousands of students in his 50+ years of teaching and coaching. He helped me take the next step and be able to play football at the collegiate level. Frederic will never find a better coach or mentor for those kids.

The adage that familiarity breeds contempt applies here. Coach has been principled and disciplined in his whole approach to life. Some folks don’t like that.

Mr B is not only a coach, but also a teacher/guider of young men. He is a tough leader/coach, and he taught you how to repect and work as a team. But when the day, season and high school career is done, you have the most respect for him. I coach today because of Mr B. There is a reason he has coached for 50+ years. I do not live in Frederic, but know that they have chose to get rid of one of the best coaches in the midwest in high school sports.

How can you fire a coach who has done nothing but great things with a football program and a community. And I see this from a former student athlete and currently on the Minnesota State Mankato football Staff! I my self have learned so much from this man about football and life and he never coached me.

There is NOT a valid reason, they do not need one. Coaching is a one year contract so the majority of coaches can be non renewed for NO reason whatsoever.

Definitely a coach that made a huge difference in the Frederic Football Program! Is able to connect and take interest in each of his players as human beings. Always felt that Coach Belanger would be able to make the decision when he wanted to retire-very sad!

Its coaches like this that srudents need. It is a shame to see such a kind, caring & inspirational person not helping students like he has for so many years.
