We, the undersigned, fully support the desire of the Board of Governors to recognize and respect the different traditions of the membership of Edgewood Country Club as its membership roster changes and grows. It is the express desire of each of the undersigned that Edgewood's tradition, as reflected in Edgewood's Rule 30.1, that Edgewood be closed on the 1st day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur, be reconsidered and reinstated at the next board meeting, and that these Rules continue to be honored while , at the same time, its Board of Governors, thoughtfully, patiently and openly considers and then recommends to the membership other respectful and deferential ways to recognize and include important traditions of Edgewood's growing membership roster.

Accordingly, we, the undersigned general members, spouses and significant others, each join in this petition and request that the Board of Governors, at its next scheduled meeting, reconsiders its vote and reinstates Rule 30.1 without change.

We, the undersigned, in order to foster, support and contribute to enhancing the traditions of Edgewood, both old and new, and in order that any future rule changes be done in a thoughtful, patiently and open manner ask that the Board, at its next scheduled meeting, creates a diversity committee comprised of general members, spouses and significant others who are not members of the Board of Governors and which will attempt to reflect our membership as it changes, and which will be consulted by and make recommendations to the Board before the Board makes a change to our General Rules like Rules 30.1 and 30.2.
