Dis uiters pateties dat ons as studente so baie betaal in studie gelde en ons is nie eerd veilig op ons eie kampus nie. Hoekom moes daar eers soveel aanvalle gewees het voordat die Universiteit wakker skrik?? Baie teleurgesteld in hierdie instansie.

The crime increase this year is ridiculous and it is absurd that only after a girl gets kidnapped on campus that Stellenbosch University decides to do anything about this. Shame on you.

A good first step for the police to up the security in Stellenbosch would be to get their priorities straight. It sickens me to see how much time and effort is put into the losing war on drugs, for example. The police is more concerned with keeping marijuana off our streets than theft and violence. Sure, a stoned hippy is much easier to arrest than a voilent rapist, and they most definitely will not insult the arresting officer as much as a REAL criminal would, but are these 'criminals' really the ones we want off our streets? If I had a choice between walking past a red-eye on the street with a smile so big it's contageous and walking past a voilent criminal intending to rob me of my valueables, THE CHOICE WOULD BE OBVIOUS, WOULDN'T IT? Now I know this isn't a marijuana activist petition, but I feel it is worth mentioning as so much of the police force's resources are spent on ridding the streets of the wrong type of people. Sure, if we had unlimited resources we could argue that marijuana might be negitive in the bigger picture, but right now it is clear that we have MORE URGENT problems than naughty students doing what they do best.

My postgraduate work often means I am around after hours doing my own work or helping others. Due to not being able to park close to my department in the mornings I often feel unsafe having to return to it in the late evening. I also feel uneasy leaving my car unattended
