These demands are reasonable and supported by the most current scientific evidence about Covid-19 and recent variants. Yes, please keep FAU safe for all.

664 U.S. universities & colleges have mandated vaccines & masks. Florida represents 20% of U.S. population, it’s a hotspot for Delta—why should we be held hostage by one man thinking only of his political career. For FAU not to mandate vaccines & masks is Immoral and in violation of the Florida Constitution. The Governor is already facing legal challenges from Florida citizens because the FL constitution states “adequate provision shall be made by law for a uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high quality system of public education.” We all know what the right thing to do is—let’s do it. “If we must die, let it not be like hogs /hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, / while round us bark the mad and hungry dogs….we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack, /pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back.” Those words are by the Black poet Claude McKay. Winston Churchill quoted them to Parliament to rally the English to fight Nazi oppression. I am not about to be Czechoslovakia sold out by the new Munich pact of 2021. I have consulted with law professors at Harvard and Yale—we can defy the mandates that are our death warrant and keep federal funding.

This should also apply to AD Henderson & FAU High School.

Disregard for the welfare of students and faculty is inexcusable. We have in 200% to pull FAU through the pandemic to date. Show us the same consideration.

Mandate masks in the classroom and vaccinations, or let us teach remotely. Teaching unmasked students in the classroom is unacceptable under the current circumstances.
I am scheduled to teach in a classroom without a window, and no seating space available for social distancing. I cannot open my classroom door for air ventilation nor for proper circulation because it leads to a hallway where students congregate between and during classes. I have children at home and I need to keep myself and my children safe from COVID-19 and the variants!

No one should have to choose between their education or paycheck and their lives. Do the right thing FAU: require indoor masking for the Fall 2021 semester, until the CDC lifts its recommendation. Otherwise, FAU will become a Petrie dish that infects the surrounding South Florida community.

Do the right thing, FAU.
