The art shop is too valuable to the students to lose it, a central service for the faculty and one which must remain in place.

This is a vital facility within the department. Regularly used by staff and students, shutting it down would be a terrible loss.

As a previous student and student support worker I am aware what a vital day to day resource this is for creative students. As a creative practitioner living and working in Stoke the art shop is still a resource myself and fellow artists in Stoke town use weekly. the staff have expert knowledge and the art shop expertise and experience of staff goes hand in hand with each of the faculties within the Fact department. It does not make sense to cut an integral service/ facility which would only continue to grow with increasing numbers of students and graduate retention / creative communities the university and council are trying to grow.

I graduated in 2007 and I don't know where I'd be now if I didn't have the Art shop to provide on the stop materials and equipment for my spur of the moment ideas!

Unbelievable. Try putting up your show or finishing off a portfolio without being able to pop to the art shop, not only for vital equipment but invaluable advice and information.

The Art Shop is a critical aid to the university's creativity. Get rid of this and the development of the students will suffer which will in turn damage the university's reputation.
