In addition, the problem is putting one family on two different school schedules (not just year round but year round and traditional) which causes a loss of income when people have to quit jobs to care for one child or another out of school 6 months of the year because of the different schedules. Or they have to pay for additional childcare because of the additional time out of school for one child or the other.

Yes, definitely I am. Our taxes are very low here and the additional taxes I would pay are far less than the money i am losing because I can't work part time with one child or another out of school 6 months of the year when we are put on two different school schedules. For working parents the taxes would be less than the additional childcare costs they are incurring with children on two different school schedules.

Maybe we need to give the builders fines for eating up this whole area with homes---start a fund for a new
school----why did MPE change from YR to traditional in 2010---I was in private school then?...
Taxes will go up YR and traditional so you can't use that
as an argument anymore. Your husband John was quoted in the news as saying he doesn't want YR because
he won't have a vacation?? ...again let's focus on the student level of learning and progress of year round education of our children

you back up this information? Is it a known fact that
year round causes lower incomes, etc?

So by signing this petition you are saying you want your taxes to be raised in order to build new schools.

from just one study of a school system considering such a conversion in Atlanta : "Given the lack of options for kids out of school during the non-summer months, the traditional schedule is more congenial to working families because of the wider and cheaper array of available activities in June, July and August." without the availibility of affordable childcare -lower income families especially struggle with choices that enable them to work and earn a wage that compensates not only for their time but for the cost of childcare... some are forced to decrease their schedule or take hourly jobs at lower wages . during the summer the options are plentiful for programs & camps as the majority of schools are traditional calendar based. however this is not limited to lower income but dual income families struggle the same - fewer options mean with higher demand there is lower supply which market dictates raises the price of the fewer childcare options that are available . .... increase in government required subsidies for such higher price programming will cause higher taxes anyways . so yes it can affect income in many ways to all of ways directly & indirectly in time & yes I would rather pay higher taxes now at a lower cost of services than later when the cost is inflated due to economic conditions.

If it came to that, I would be absolutely fine with raising our taxes in order to provide my kids with the educational situation they need and not put my family on a split calendar.

Ed - Signing the petition does not say that is necessarily the answer - their are other alternatives to making Mills Park Year Round. Just also keep in mind our taxes are the lowest in the area.

Yes, definitely I am.
