MBBS should be made at par to PhD (awarded as MD/PhD) now that all sort of PhD exist in pharmacy, optometry and medical labs science as a straight 6six years duration. please award Bsc to medicine students after 300level. Fellowship would then be seen and obvious as superior to PhD and

It is unfortunate that we always lay emphasy on trivialities while we look away from important issues. All attempts should be made to protect the delicate profession of medicine and the interpretation of her certificates, no to this new manipulation.

This intended policy is going to knock out the residency training if not properly reviewed and amended. Clinical medicine is more of apprenticeship than paperwork.I support a review of this policy.The MBBS degree as well as the fellowship should not be downgraded by any means.

Training for Post Graduate Medical Fellowship is certainly far more rigorous, comprehensive and suited for teaching of undergraduate medical students than any PhD programme. It is therefore unacceptable to rate the former lower than the latter under any guise as this will surely destroy medical education and consequently medical practice in Nigeria.
