The undergraduate student body feels that the Board of Election Commissioners did not handle the 2016 MSA Presidential Elections properly. Therefore, the results of the election should be thrown out and another election should be held.
The feedback from students continues to confirm that the election process was deeply flawed. I am currently organizing the findings to present to the student government leadership.

this election was a total joke. the rules mean nothing if they just ignore them when people get caught cheating. redo the whole thing.

Honestly what is the point of having a handbook if the BEC just decides to fine people instead of disqualifying them? Seems pretty unfair to the other candidates who actually followed the rules.

It feels like they just made up the rules as they went along. We need a do-over with actual oversight because none of us trust these results at all.

Totally agree. The process was super shady from the start.

One of the slates committed two major violations during the course of the campaign. They sent out mass communication to the student body, which is expressly prohibited in the BEC handbook which is what determines the rules to be followed during the course of the campaign. Because these violations occurred while the election was taking place, the BEC chair decided that the slate would only pay a $300 fine instead of being ejected from the race, as the handbook said was the punishment for having two major violations.

Any specific reasons why the undergraduate student body feels like the election was not handled properly? As a member of the student body, I have no clue what was wrong with how the elections were handled so some specifics would help.
